Lucie Brulíková

After completing her Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry at Palacký University Olomouc, Lucie continued her studies at Charles University in Prague, where she earned her PhD in Organic Chemistry. During her doctoral studies, she expanded her research experience through a research stay in Denmark, which was part of the Marie Curie Host Fellowships program. Upon finishing her PhD, Lucie moved to the United States and joined the University of Notre Dame, where she further developed her expertise in organic and medicinal chemistry. Later, she returned to Palacký University Olomouc to continue her academic and research career in the Department of Organic Chemistry. In 2019, she received a Palacký University Junior Grant, which allowed her to establish and develop her own independent research group. 

Today, Lucie is an Associate Professor and leads a research team that operates at the interface of synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Since 2026, she has also served as Vice-Dean for Study Affairs at the Faculty of Science at Palacký University Olomouc, where she oversees matters related to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs and contributes to the development and quality of education within the Faculty. 

Her research group focuses on designing and synthesizing biologically active molecules, with a particular interest in new antimicrobial and antituberculosis agents, including compounds that may be effective against drug-resistant pathogens. In addition to her research, teaching and mentoring young scientists are important aspects of her academic work. She enjoys introducing students to organic and medicinal chemistry and supporting them as they develop their own scientific ideas and careers. What continues to fascinate her most about chemistry is the blend of creativity, discovery, and problem-solving involved in understanding and designing new molecules.
