Postdoctoral researchers
Mgr. Jan Chasák, Ph.D. jan.chasak@upol.cz
Jan studied Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry at Palacký University Olomouc, where he joined the research group of Assoc. Prof. Lucie Brulíková during his BSc studies and subsequently continued in the group throughout his MSc and PhD. He completed his doctorate in 2026, with research focused on the design and synthesis of biologically active small molecules, particularly in the field of anti-infective drug discovery.
During his PhD, Jan spent three months at the University of Antwerp, where he gained experience with the biological evaluation of compounds against bacterial and parasitic pathogens. His research interests lie at the interface of synthetic and medicinal chemistry, with a particular interest in connecting compound design with biological activity. His doctoral research and scientific development were also recognised through participation in the 2025 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting and, shortly after completing his PhD, by receiving third prize in the Jean-Marie Lehn Prize in Chemistry awarded by the French Embassy.
Outside the research environment, Jan enjoys strength training, travelling, and spending time with his wife and friends.
PhD students
Mgr. Silvie Hendrychová silvie.hendrychova01@upol.cz
Silvie was born and raised in the Czech Republic. She studied Biology and Chemistry at Palacký University Olomouc, where she continued with a Master's degree in Bioorganic Chemistry and Chemical Biology and is currently a PhD student in Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry.
During her studies, she gained research experience through internships at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, where she worked in the field of bioorthogonal chemistry, and later at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, where she gained further experience in organic synthesis and biocatalysis.
Outside of the laboratory, Silvie enjoys travelling, exploring new places and spending time with friends.
Mgr. Lucie Rezková lucie.rezkova01@upol.cz
Lucie earned both her Bc and Mgr degrees in Bioorganic Chemistry from Palacký University Olomouc. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies, she carried out her research at the Department of Organic Chemistry within the group of doc. RNDr. Lucie Brulíková, PhD. focusing on the design and synthesis of functionalised thiazolidin-4-ones for her bachelor's and master's theses.
Alongside her core research in Olomouc, Lucie expanded her expertise through international placements. During her master's studies, she completed an Erasmus research placement at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense in the group of Prof. Poul Nielsen, working on the preparation of substituted nucleotides. She subsequently undertook a two-month research stay at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim under the supervision of Prof. Elisabeth Egholm Jacobsen, contributing to the synthesis of novel compounds intended for vaccine applications.
Currently, Lucie is continuing her academic career as a PhD student in the Brulíková group, where her research remains dedicated to the development of new thiazolidin-4-one-based antitubercular therapeutics. Outside of the research lab, she loves spending her free time with family and friends or staying active through sports, with running playing by far the biggest part.
MSc. Mayuri Sing
Mayuri completed her Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry at K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce, University of Mumbai. She then worked at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, focusing on organic synthesis, total synthesis, and electro-organic chemistry. She has now joined Palacký University Olomouc as a PhD student, where her research focuses on the synthesis of novel low-molecular-weight compounds with antimicrobial activity.
